Location, location, location ...

For many years the holiday secret of the Spanish escaping the Summer heat of inland cities, the Costa de la Luz is gradually becoming more known - yet still continues to retain its traditional rural charms and cultural history.

Our hilltop ´white village´ of Vejer de la Frontera (below) is a UNESCO World Heritage site - with local shops, tapas bars & restaurants tucked around every corner.

"We were both blown away by how beautiful Andalusia is as well and looking back through the photos of Cadiz, Jerez, Vejer and Granada we cannot believe that we did so much and still feel so relaxed. You have created a really wonderful place there and I hope you and the estate continue to thrive."

With 265 days of regional festivals & fiestas every year, a  number of coveted Blue Flag beaches and five protected National Parks this corner of Spain is a vibrant living window into the country's rich natural heritage.

Unique Culture

As well as its temperate climate, lying just 15 km  from Morocco & North Africa this particular region sits at a unique crossroads in Spain, historically, culturally & geographically - which is clearly reflected in the architecture, cuisine and traditions of the region.

Visit a local bodega or sherry vineyard in Jerez; take a day-trip to Seville, Cadiz, Ronda or even Morocco & Gibraltar, with plenty of local produce & craft markets as well as shops for those preferring a gentler approach and cooking at ´home´.

"We had a really great time and the Casita was a perfect base to explore the fantastic countryside nearby!

For those feeling energetic, or even adventurous, there are miles of  glorious beaches to explore as well as a wide range of activities from (kite) surfing to wildlife safaris, flamenco, mountain biking & horse riding.

"We certainly did enjoy our holiday.  El Sueño is a fantastic place and we had some great days on the beaches nearby."

Alfresco dining ...

The charming winding streets of Vejer de la Frontera offer a host of tapas bars & restaurants with Moroccan, French & modern Spanish cuisine on cobbled corners to rooftop patios, while there are also many other culinary delights to be found  just a few minutes away.

Order al la plancha (on the grill) or in a wood-fired oven.  Tree trunks create natural pergolas in lush gardens and amazing views offer unhurried al fresco dining under a shady pergola on a sunny afternoon, or late into the night with a sky filled with stars.

"Thanks very much for a really excellent week.  It´s been great to get to know the Costa de la Luz and this was the ideal base to start from!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time in El Sueno it was a great place to really relax and we were very impressed with how many interesting things there were to do in the local area. Your house book suggestions were spot on and we did a lot of the things you recommended. We didn't manage to get to Seville though as we decided to focus on the local area  - the furthest we went was Sanlucar, once for sherry tasting and looking around and again to do the boat trip into the national park which was great.  Thanks for all your help in the planning stages and do pass on our thanks to Chus who was very friendly and helpful throughout.

Or stay close to home with cycling, birdwatching, flora & fauna coastal walks within our La Breña y Las Marimas.
